There are 392 new PCS codes, 8 revised PCS code titles and 216 deleted codes for 2019. We’ll cover these changes in groupings, such as completely new tables, as well as new values for body parts, devices and qualifiers in the Medical and Surgical section. We’ll also cover changes and additions to other sections of ICD-10-PCS that affect correct code assignment. In addition, there are 3 guideline changes and 1 new guideline for 2019. 

Objectives: 

At the conclusion of this webinar, attendees will be able to:  

  • Locate and download the 2019 ICD-10-PCS file and guidelines from the CMS website
  • Understand the use of new body part, device and qualifier values in the Medical and Surgical section of ICD-10-PCS for 2019.
  • Identify the uses of the new codes added to other section in ICD-10-PCS in 2019 
  • Recognize the 2019 PCS guideline addition and changes

Lynn Kuehn, MS, RHIA, CCS-P, FAHIMA is a health care consultant with over 35 years of experience in the areas of coding, reimbursement, and data quality reviews in various healthcare settings.
